FALL

A Halloween Decor Tour

Welcome!

In case you are new here, I’m Cat, and this is my creative corner at Sagehill Cottage!

I’m so glad you could stop by for a little Halloween Decor tour. I’m honored to be included in this Amazing group of bloggers…and I can’t wait to go check out everyones take on Halloween.

So without further ado, I want to welcome you to my Halloween home!

Foyer

Did you know that every year right before i decorate for fall i take a little trip to my favorite park with a bag and a pair of scissors in hand? Yup, i do. My little girl loves feeding the ducks and we go fora little walk around the large beautiful forest to get our fall clippings for our decorations. I always mix fresh with faux, its cheap and i get a new look every year. So go find a local park, make a little outing out of it with your kids or significant other and see what fun things you can find!

Having the antique headboard up on this wall has been SO fun to decorate around. I added a cotton wreath and than some faux fall foliage mixed with fresh oak branches. A few simple white pumpkins and a crock full of fall goodies makes this space an easy decorating project.

Spider Web Gallery Wall

Oh my goodness this was SO fun!

If you are new to my blog this gallery wall is a place that gets a makeover with every holiday. Usually the “Uhygge” sign only says “hygge”….its the danish way of life..it describes the state of being cozy (more on that for another post). BUT in Danish if you place an U in front of it, it means “Scary”…kind of perfect for halloween…right? lol

Its always easier to decorate around what you have ..so instead of removing all my signs with quotes that perhaps are not Halloween themed I just covered them up with .99 cent spider web…

Using my collected candlesticks where perfect little pedestals for the pumpkins. These are all faux but THE best replicas of gourds Ive found.

Im very picky when it comes to Halloween decorations, so several years ago i decided to make this “BOO QUEEN” on a whim and out of some fabric scraps I had laying around. She’s Kind of creepy huh! You will soon descover that I like to make many of my own decorations. I don’t do it all of the time with throughout the years they’ve added up.

Now lets talk about these DIY book page spiders!

I came up with this idea when yet again I couldn’t find any Halloween decor that I liked. These little critters required just a few small items that I had lying around the house. Come back next week for a full tutorial!

Real and faux DIY Fall Foliage Garland

My home is full of neutrals so I decided to add a splash of fall color with this homemade garland.

You can make your very own as well…its very easy to do!

I’ll explain how I did mine so you can try it out for yourself!

First I started out with a basic green garland. Its actually a Christmas garland from Hearth and Hand ( Lambs ear with white berries). I used that mixed in with another simple maple leaf fall garland that I found for 5$ at my local Family Dollar store. After winding it all together I placed it on the edge of the mirror with some duck tape. Next I added some floral picks of various colors from Hobby Lobby, as well as the candy corn picks that I found several years ago. Last I added the real Oak tree pieces (FREE) that was part of our trip to the park. So basically use what you already have and just spend a little bit to get some extra depth and texture. I really only spent maybe 5-7$ on this garland because I had things in my decor stash that I could already use. WIN WIN! *If you have to start from scratch just find several cheap or clearance garlands at the end of the year and start a collection that way.

The wreath is an old one that I made years ago.

A DIY Spell book I made a long time ago…. taught to me by my lovely sister Lindsay.

Cotton and Vintage Halloween

This vintage Halloween decoration was made several years ago by me, and I just switch out the branches that its on. This year I used cotton stems for it. Go here to read how you can make your own with things you probably already have lying around your house.

These Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies with maple frosting…gahhh…they are AMAZING! The authors of these delectable morsels are by my sweet friends at The Food Nanny.

So easy to make and so delicious…yum!
